About Sterling Hospitality Management

Our Sterling Team, led by Cal Clausen and Kent Clausen will provide comprehensive management oversight in the limited service sector of the lodging industry.

The roots of the Sterling Management philosophy stems from Cal and Kent’s father, Vern, who modeled the “hands on” approach that is carried forward today.

“Our father, was very people-oriented, exhibiting sincere compassion for his employees and guests. Today, we continue to emulate this philosophy.”

Kent Clausen

The Clausens first entered the lodging industry in 1977 with Montana’s first Super 8 Motel in Missoula. Over the next twelve years, they managed properties in Kalispell, Wenatchee, Spokane, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Nogales and Las Vegas.  In fact, the Super 8 Motel in Las Vegas was the largest in the world!

Currently, there are twelve independently owned properties over five states currently managed by Sterling Hospitality in Spokane (Washington), Wenatchee (Washington), Coeur d’Alene (Idaho), Kalispell (Montana), Layton (Utah), and Henderson (Nevada). Franchise affiliations include Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Quality Inn and the new SpringHill by Marriott.

“…through uncompromised ethics and values, Sterling will be respected corporate citizens. We will strive to always contribute positively to our hotels and to the communities in which we operate…”
